The dimensions of this hobby took on forms that resulted in the small apartment to no longer tolerable conditions. We searched a lot outside of Hamburg, which offered in addition to the house, the possibilities for a greenhouse for the butterflies. The land was found and implemented the project. After a few years, the next problem was enough space and facilities, only the professional devoured most of the time. Logically, the next step was the conversion of the hobby into a profession. The first result was the Butterfly Park in Buchholz North Heath. In 1992, a second butterfly park at the edge of Uslar was compared with an indoor swimming pool planned, constructed and put into operation in 1993 at the suggestion of the Deputy Town Clerk of the city Uslar.

History:

On 21 July 1950 the zoo in Magdeburg opened for the first time its doors to the public, and yet its actual birth took place much earlier. This start-up phase was decisively influenced by Alfred Hilprecht who had campaigned long before the Second World War vehemently for a animal park. The war just gave big problems economially but all ready just after the war was finished, the zoo building face could start with the eager helpof local citizens. 50 mammals and 280 birds at that time was the consist of the animal population. By the end of 1952, with the two brown bears Täve and Juste the first " large animal personalities " of the period were entering the Zoo, and with the first rhesus monkeys and parrots was a start of an exotic collection in Magdeburg. With the appeal and the curiosity of Magdeburg grew, so finally matured the - predicted by Hilprecht - idea to expand the animal park to a full-fledged zoo. To achieve this goal, in 1956 was the former scientific assistant to the zoo in Halle, Dr. Klaus-Günther Witstruk, brought as a new Zoo Director to Magdeburg. Lothar Klinzmann initially remained as head of administration at the zoo until he fled to West Germany the following year. In this period also saw the first major debate about a necessary extension of the Zoo area. After the issue of enlargement towards the north was from the table in 1957, there was only the extension to the south, but the inclusion of the Vogelgesangpark " (birdsong park) was already a highly controversial political issue. It would take another half a century, to 2007, when the area was added. The zoo got its first elephant in 1960 and in 1961 another, 1962 these two got theire first enclosure and in 1967! theire first real home. This then new house was also home to other pachyderms, a pair of hippos and a black rhinoceros. This got a partner in 1970 and these to are the base of a world reknown rhinobreeding, with the first calf born in 1979. The chimpanzee history is similar of the elephants, the first animals arrived in 1962, the animal could bee seen from 1964, but first in 2000 the zoo got a house for apes (chimpanzees). In the 1970s the Amur tiger, ocelot, cheetah and Grevy zebras arrived. --indact in this decade the zoo was knowen in Europe becourse of the zoos breeding success of small felines. in 1982 the first two tamarin species arrived, the cotton-top tamarin and the  black-tufted marmoset, 6 years later the zoo had 8 species and were a part of an international breeding program and in 1994 the zoo had 12 species - then the argest group of tamarins in any zoo of Europe. 1992 the giraffe house then was added through a tv-show, it only take 110 hours to build the house. In 2000 an enclosure for tigers opened. Since 2008 the zoo has seen some renovation as well as new enclosures like the South American enclosure "Amazonien" (2009), a new entrance building (2009) and the African enclosure Africambo (2010), a parking lot (2013) and renovation of the ape house (2014).
